The greens at the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay got a lot of complaints from spectators and players. However, don’t expect to hear this again, at Pinnacle Country Club. Pete Lis a Manager of Rules and Competition, said that greens look better than ever on the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G. They are spectacular. In fact, they are so good that many players already complimented them.
You should know that Pinnacle Country Club hosted this event since 2008. For the last 4 years, the winning score has been at 12 under. Lis said that this is a coincidence. In addition, he said that they don’t target a number. They are just trying to add a new look and make a new challenge. With this, players have a little variety. Last week, the course sustained 7 inches of rain. But, it is still in good condition. Now, the course is ready for this week’s event. Everything is ready for players and spectators.
This tournament will play in 6.374 (for a week) with a par 71. The rough is 2 ½ inches long with 11 ½ of greens. Lis said that the greens will roll very fast. The undulating greens are the biggest problem. They are slopey. They are at the maximum pace, especially on the closing holes.
Spectators will be able to enjoy in new viewing areas with a stand near the 17th tee box. Also, they will be able to enjoy from the left side of the cart path (par 3 17th). Behind the 18th green, a new platform has been added. In general, players and spectators will have a great time here.
